Description

Bancroft brothers were based  at 170 Hockley Hill Birmingham, listed as fancy chain makers

There are many different designs of Advertising and ‘Imitation’ Guinea that were made in the time of Queen Victoria during the 1800’s yet with the bust of King George III to avoid the Counterfeit laws of the time, the date would often be of the 1700’s, from 1701 – 1798.
As gambling tokens, their purpose was to look like sovereigns or guineas and to show off the expertise of the engravers and manufacturers of the time that made them.
